Volunteering for all and Training for Instructors, Leaders and Coaches
The club always needs volunteers. How can you help?
The club is run totally by volunteers who put their own time and effort into running the club, this ranges from simply helping out at the pool or outside on Tuesday nights or organised events to becoming an Instructor, Leader or Coach and also joining the committee and help steer the club's direction.
Being a volunteer and Helping out: This can range from help moving boats and equipment checks to organising events ensuring the right safety cover is available. All of this just needs willing people who can do stuff, these helpers can be a significant invaluable support the Instructors, Leaders and Coaches.
Being an instructor:
Do you want to have fun?
Like to spend time on the water?
With likeminded people?
Do you want to introduce people from all walks of life to Paddlesport by running fun, engaging, taster and starter sessions?
If so, your pathway to becoming a Paddlesport Instructor starts here.
Being a Leader:
Do you want to lead people from all walks of life on journeys?
Are you a paddler or do you have experience of paddling?
Do you want to support your club leading trips?
Do you want to lead and plan trips as well as pass on your skills?
If so, one of the Paddlesport Leader Awards could be for you!
Being a Coach:
Do you want to coach paddlers who want to gain/improve Paddlesport skills within the discipline chosen?
Do you want to plan, deliver and review progressive sessions safely, effectively and independently?
If so, becoming a coach could be the way to go.
The Leader and Coach Awards are discipline specific and currently available in multiple disciplines (Canoe, Kayak, Paddle board etc) and at different levels (beginner, intermediate or advanced levels) and different environments (open water, white water, sea etc). Some qualifications do have a pathway you must progress. (EG some Coaches need to be Leaders in that environment/discipline first)
All of the above awards are available via the Paddle UK web site Home of Paddle UK | The NGB for paddling and paddle sport (top banner Coaching and Courses)
The club can also provide funding for these awards so long as there is a benefit to the club. We have developed a funding request form so people can apply. If you are interested or want any more information or help with navigating the Paddle UK training, please contact any one of the committee members.
Paul Bailey is the Adult Coach Co-Ordinator who ensures we maintain all the relevant qualifications to be safe on the water. Contact Paul on WhatsApp email paul57jude@aol.com or at the evening/weekend sessions.
